Q. Do I need a passport to come to Guernsey? UK residents do not require a passport to visit Guernsey. If you are travelling from the continent direct to Guernsey you will need a passport. If you travel to Guernsey from the continent via United Kingdom you will also need your passport.
Q. What is the local currency? The Guernsey currency is pounds sterling. Local notes and coinage are interchangeable with UK tender. (We still have £1 notes)
Q. Can I change traveller's cheques / foreign currency? Yes. There are many Banks and Bureaux de Change able to help.
Q. What is the level of health care? Guernsey has excellent health care facilities and there is a reciprocal agreement with the UK for their citizens which is currently under review. See Latest Information. Otherwise health care is privately funded and you are strongly advised to take out adequate insurance cover for your stay. The National Health Service does not operate in Guernsey.
Q. Can I bring my Dog / other animals? Resrictions apply as at April 2001.

Q. Do I need any vaccinations / medical precautions? No. Guernsey can be treated as if it were the mainland UK in this respect.
Q. Do I have to have accommodation booked before arriving? In the height of summer it is recommended as accommodation may be in short supply, but there is no requirement that you pre-book, and Tourist Information nformation Centre in St. Peter Port will be pleased to assist you with finding suitable accommodation.
Q. How do I travel to Sark or Herm? Herm can only be reached by boat; there are two companies; Travel Trident Tel: +44 (0) 1481 721379, and Herm Seaways Express Tel +44 (0) 1481 724161, journey time 20 mins approx. Q. How do I travel to Lihou Island? Lihou Island can be reached only by a causeway when the tide is low enough, times can be obtained from the Information Centre Tel +44 (0) 1481 723552.
Q. How do I travel to Alderney? Alderney can only be reached from Guernsey by Air - a 15-minute flight with Aurigny Air Services popular Trislander aircraft, an experience not to be missed.
